Are you running the latest orange snapshot? There was a problem with C4.5 loading a while back but has since then been fixed. And it works in my Win7 virtual machine.

Hello,

I'm trying out orange with some sample datasets from the UCI Machine Laboratory. In cases where the data is given as C4.5 format with <stem>.data, <stem>.name, index.txt, <stem>.test, I Cannot get the data to load.

My python program crashes at both the command prompt and from the user interface.

Do i need to install something to load these files? What is the correct way to load them? I've tried loading both the *.data file and the *.names file

I'm working on a WIndows 7 machine

I am learning Python and Orange by reading your document and planning to build my own tree-classifier.

I have to say the first part of the document is quite extensive and specific and then I got this:

Quote:

Well, this might have been an overkill...

... show a series of trees
Defining your own components
Various tricks
Storing testing examples
... show how to remember misclassifications etc.

Replacing node classifiers
... replacing with something else, but based on learning examples

Wish List :: Ukash partners with Mastercard

Global e-commerce payment method provider Ukash is to partner with MasterCard to facilitate the launch of its pioneering MasterCard rePower service in Europe.

The move is part of a strategic initiative from the London-based online payment solutions firm and will enable consumers to load cash onto their MasterCard and Maestro prepaid cards at point-of-sale locations.

Ukash is regulated by the UK’s Financial Services Authority and revealed that it has an existing global network of 275,000 issuing points with a track record within the alternative payments industry that is second to none. By partnering with MasterCard, it will be enable the rapid scale delivery of the MasterCard rePower service across Europe.

Ukash currently processes several million transactions a year with values in excess of €100 million and revealed that the benefits of its service to the consumer include immediate access to funds alongside the trust and security of the MasterCard brand, which is safer than carrying cash.

To charge money onto a card using the MasterCard rePower service, consumers simply swipe the card and it is loaded with funds in exchange for cash. The value of the transaction is then immediately available for the consumer to spend anywhere that accepts MasterCard.

Ukash revealed that the service would initially be enabled across the UK before moving into the rest of Europe via partners within its issuing estate.

“Partnering with MasterCard for the launch of Mastercard rePower is a very significant step for Ukash,” said Mark Chirnside, Chief Executive Officer for Ukash.

“It is one of several markers that Ukash is now a major player in the global prepaid industry with our rate of growth in volume and geography both moving at significant pace. It also demonstrates the growing popularity of prepaid products as a viable alternative for consumers. This is symptomatic of a shift in consumer behaviour as more of the public look to find safe and secure ways to shop online while maintaining control of their spending. Increasingly, they are turning to Ukash to provide the answers.

“For partners like MasterCard, our patented, regulated and proven technology is proving an attractive proposition for joint projects, which is a testament to our work and market position within the alternative payments industry.”

Monday, 22 June 2009 – NEOVIA Financial Plc (NEO.L), the independent online payments business, and Conister Trust are pleased to announce that their Net+ Prepaid MasterCard has won the Best New Prepaid Card Product Launch.

The Net+ Prepaid MasterCard has been voted the best new prepaid card at the prestigious Cards & Payments Europe 2009 Awards, organised by Cards International and Electronic Payments International, against tough competition from the PayPal Top-Up Card and the M-Cube/Ryanair co-branded prepaid card programme.

The Cards & Payments Europe Awards, which are open to UK and international payment card issuers and acquirers, recognise best practice in the card payment industry. The Card & Payments Europe Awards are part of Europe’s leading cards and payments conference and expo held in Prague on 18/19 June 2009.

To qualify, the card had to have significant features, marketing strategies or programmes, be new to the issuer, market or both, and have acquired a significant number of new accounts in the six months following its launch. The winners are chosen by an independent judging panel, which comprises representatives from the payment card organisations and industry commentators and experts from across the globe.

The Net+ Prepaid MasterCard, issued by Conister Trust Limited and launched in October 2008, incorporates chip and PIN technology, allows cardholders to instantly access funds from a NETELLER e-wallet account at over 26 million retail point of sale locations and 1 million ATMs worldwide. The virtual version of the card offers a secure way to shop and pay online with one-time usage card numbers.

The award was made to NEOVIA and Conister Trust Limited, the issuer of the Net+ Card, at The Cards & Payments Europe 2009 Awards ceremony in Prague on 18 June 2009.

Simon Hull, Managing Director of Conister Trust Limited, said “This award recognises the leading capabilities of the Net+ Card, and we are delighted to be working with NEOVIA to bring such an innovative product to the market. The Net+ Card is the first time an e-wallet has been used to load both virtual and physical cards.”

Dan Starr, Executive President of NEOVIA, commented “We are delighted that the Net+ Card has been recognised as the best new prepaid card by industry experts at The Card Awards. The Card has been a success for our existing e-wallet customers, giving them flexibility and security over payouts, and to our merchants, the cards have demonstrated they can add to customer lifetime value as part of the NEOVIA Payment Suite.”

Consumers can find out more about the Net+ card at www.netpluscards.com. The Net+ card is available to NETELLER e-wallet customers – for more information on becoming a NETELLER customer, visit www.neteller.com.

I know this hand has been addressed elsewhere but I am just curious as to what Baluga and other players on this forum thought about it. For anyone who hasn't seen it, its on Youtube and Pokertube, from High Stakes Poker season 5.

The hand was with blinds at 400/800 and a 200 ante, Barry opened utg to 2,500 with AA (cant remember suits) and Durrr (directly to his left) called with QT, 6 other players called also, inlcuding Peter Eastgate in the SB with 42. The flop came 2 T 2 and Peter checked and barry led out for 10k, Durrr made it 37 to go and Peter smooth called and Barry also called. The turn was a blank (an 8 I think) and Peter and Barry checked to Tom, who bet out 104k and got them both to fold.

How big a factor was Eastgate's stack size in this decision to bluff the turn and also, how important was it that Eastgate was winning up to that point. It looked amazing on tv especially after he said that he would bet that Peter had the best hand. I mean, if I could put both players on exactly what they had like Durrr did, I really doubt I woulda tried to bluff someone off of trips. It just seems so crazy. I mean it worked but we are always warned (on Deucescracked) not to be results oriented. Just cause the play worked, does it mean it was +ev?

I asked my file widget to recreate new attributes every time to avoid storing info about values that are not present anymore, so that must be why. But I guess I can avoid recreating them.

Orange depends on many libraries, including numpy, so we cannot go to Py 3.0 until all of those are ported. Moreover, we would like to seize the opportunity to tie Orange more strongly to numpy (possibly at a cost of some backward incompatibilities), so porting will not be trivial. We cannot give any estimates.

Im sorry but at the moment there is no easy way to do this.
Maybe you can try using matplotlib's mplot3d toolkit http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/mpl_toolkits/mplot3d/tutorial.html#toolkit-mplot3d-tutorial from within orange in the Python Script widget (It is in the Prototypes widget category - you may have to enable it from the Canvas Options menu (Preferences on Mac OSX)).

Which build of python did you install? Orange should work with plain python 2.6.6, but not with amd64 (X86-64) builds. Also did you perhaps install python with a different user account then Orange and didn't install it for all users?

All,

I am trying to evaluate different data mining tools, I am starting to learn about Orange and looks pretty good.
I was wondering if there is possible create specific reports with different data source. For example, create a report for my user, which execute a C4.5 for one set of data and after sometime run the same C4.5 for another similar.
My reason to looking for this, is my user are new on Mining world and I am trying to start the learning process with them. I cannot expect they know all the different options of this tool

let me know your opinions and if it is possible
thanks in advance
